Wind Mitigation Inspections
Catastrophic hurricanes making landfall in the U.S. have triggered drastic
increases in insurance premimums. Since Hurricane Andrew struck in 1992, Florida has taken the lead in adopting
regulatory provisions related to hurricane resistant construction.
So how can these new Florida regulations help you as a homeowner? The State of Florida REQUIRES
Insurance Companies to offer REDUCED RATES for certain Wind Mitigation features.
A Wind Mitigation Inspection is a valuable
inspection service that may reduce your windstorm insurance. Wind Insurance discounts are available for building
features that reduce damage during high wind events. The Wind Mitigation discounts are justified because stronger,
more wind-resistive structures have lower windstorm losses, which mean reduced costs to insurance companies. Most
existing structures have one or more wind resistive construction features and may qualify for some Wind Mitigation
insurance discounts.
However these reduced rates are not automatic. It is up to the homeowner to have a
wind mitigation inspection done and submitted to their insurance agent to receive a reduced rate.
Wind Mitigation Inspections are available for
all single family homes, townhouses, and condos. Homeowner's and Condo Associations also qualify for wind
mitigation credits.
H & H
Inspections provides this service...
You call us and schedule an appointment, often times for the next day. The
inspector will make a report on your home and H & H Inspections will submit all the necessary
paperwork for you, then mail the original forms back to you. Most insurance companies respond within 3 weeks but
the discounts are applied from the day the paperwork is submitted.
Still not sure? Call your agent and ask if you are eligible for a Wind Mitigation
Inspection discount. Chances are very good that you are!
